Every tool
A starting point, not an endorsement. We are not paid to point you at any wallet here, and you should read the page for whichever one you pick before installing it.
Every self custody wallet has the same failure mode
Whichever one you land on, the wallet is not where your money lives. Your coins are on the blockchain and the wallet holds the keys that move them. That means a wallet can be uninstalled, lost, wiped or thrown in a river, and as long as you have the recovery phrase written down you restore everything into a different one.
It also means the reverse. Lose the phrase and no company can help you, there is no reset link and no support desk with a copy. This is the trade you are making, and it is the same trade in every wallet on the list.
Common questions
Are you paid to recommend these?
Not for the picker. Some pages elsewhere on the site carry affiliate links and say so on the page. The wallet the picker lands on is chosen by your answers and nothing else.
It suggested a hardware wallet. Do I need one?
If the amount would be a real problem to lose, yes. A hardware wallet keeps the keys on a device with its own screen, so a malicious website cannot sign anything without you physically approving what it actually does.
Can I use more than one?
Most people end up with two: a small hot wallet for trying things, and a hardware wallet for the amount they care about. That split does more for your safety than any single choice of app.
