Common questions
Is Coinbase Wallet the same thing as Base App?
Yes, it is the same app. Coinbase Wallet was renamed Base App in 2025 and renamed back to Coinbase Wallet in September 2026. Same app, same keys, third name. Anything written between those dates calls it Base App, including a lot of guides that have not been updated. Your recovery phrase and funds were never affected by either rename.
Is Coinbase Wallet self custody?
Yes. You control the keys, which also means you are responsible for the recovery method. Read seed phrase security before funding it meaningfully.
