Every comparison
Which one, and why
Crypto is what you are here for, and you want the deepest liquidity and the most direct route onto a self custody wallet.
Full Coinbase pageYou want crypto, metals and equities in one balance and you value moving between them in a single step more than you value the lowest fee.
Full Uphold pageIf you only want crypto, Coinbase. Uphold earns its place when the point is holding several asset classes together, and you should read its spread carefully, because that is where the cost lives rather than in a headline fee.

The parts that change the answer
The cost is in the spread
Uphold quotes a price with the fee built in rather than charging a visible commission. That is friendlier to read and harder to compare, so check the quoted buy and sell prices against a market rate before deciding it is cheap.
One balance, several asset classes
Moving from crypto to gold to an equity inside one account is genuinely convenient and it is the reason to be there. No crypto exchange offers it in the same shape.
Getting coins out
Whatever you buy, the test that matters is withdrawing to a wallet you control. Do it once with a small amount on any platform before you hold anything meaningful there.
