Alpha originally meant returns above a benchmark. In crypto slang it means a useful tip or early information, and alpha groups are communities built around sharing it.
Real alpha is rare and rarely free. Most things labeled alpha are either already priced in or are someone looking for exit liquidity.
In practice
If alpha is being broadcast to a large public group, it is no longer alpha.
