Traditional finance: banks, brokers, exchanges and the regulated system crypto defines itself against.
TradFi is shorthand for the existing financial system. The term is usually used in contrast, sometimes dismissively, though the boundary has thinned considerably as spot ETFs, tokenized treasuries and broker run chains have arrived.
The useful comparison is not which is better but what each guarantees. TradFi offers reversibility, insured deposits, consumer protection and a support desk, in exchange for permission, hours and intermediaries. Crypto offers settlement without permission, in exchange for irreversibility and being your own support desk.
Most people end up using both, and the mistake is expecting one to behave like the other.
A tokenized treasury fund that settles onchain around the clock while remaining a regulated product with a named issuer.
