An anonymous participant, which describes most of crypto including many builders.
Anon is both a noun and a form of address. Much of crypto is pseudonymous by design, from Bitcoin's own creator onward, and plenty of serious protocols are built by people whose legal names nobody knows.
Anonymity is not itself a red flag. What matters is whether the work is verifiable. Anonymous developers with years of public commits and audited contracts are a different proposition from an anonymous account that appeared last week with a token to sell.
The practical asymmetry is accountability. If an anonymous team disappears with your money there is nobody to pursue, so size your exposure accordingly rather than pretending the risk is not there.
