Checking a project yourself before putting money in.
DYOR means do your own research, and it gets used to deflect responsibility as often as it gets used sincerely. Done properly it is a checklist: who is the team, is the contract verified and audited, is liquidity locked, what is the token distribution, who holds the largest wallets.
Ten minutes of this filters out most outright scams. It will not tell you whether something is a good investment.
Read the contract on a block explorer. If it is unverified, that alone is reason enough to walk away.
