Faucets dispense small amounts of valueless testnet tokens so developers and learners can pay test gas fees.
Anything calling itself a mainnet faucet and asking you to connect a wallet is almost certainly a drainer.
In practice
Base Sepolia and Ethereum Sepolia both have public faucets for practice.
What people get wrong
That a faucet gives away real money. Testnet tokens are deliberately worthless and cannot be moved to a real network. Anything calling itself a faucet and offering mainnet coins for a small deposit is a scam.
Common questions
Why do faucets ask me to sign in?
To rate limit. Testnet tokens are free but not unlimited, and without a check one person drains the supply. Never connect a wallet holding real funds to one.
Are there mainnet faucets?
A few give away tiny amounts of gas on cheap chains to get new users moving. Anything offering meaningful value for free is a scam.
