A honeypot contract contains code that blocks selling for everyone except addresses the deployer chose. The chart looks like it only goes up, because nobody can take profit.
By the time you discover it, your funds are already unrecoverable.
In practice
Token scanners can simulate a sell before you buy. Use one on any token you have not heard of.
