Discord is a chat platform organized into servers with topic channels and roles. NFT collections, games and developer communities use it more than Telegram, largely because roles and permissions can be tied to what somebody holds.
The classic Discord attack is compromising a moderator or the project's own announcement channel and posting a mint link. Because it comes from a real, verified account inside the real server, it defeats every instinct people rely on. Millions have been lost this way.
Treat an announcement channel as a claim, not a fact. Check the project's other channels, its account elsewhere, and the contract address before connecting anything, however official the source looks.
A collection's announcement channel posts a surprise mint at 3am. The link drains every wallet that connects. The post came from the real bot, using a stolen token.
